Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. Joh 14:6

There are many people today who claim salvation and to know the Lord, but in Jesus Christ we see a perfect example of obedience to the Father so that we can examine the truth of our profession. Jesus was obedient in all His ways. Jesus’ command to us was to follow His footsteps to gain access to the Father’s heaven. We know the Father was pleased with all the ways of Jesus because we hear in scripture that affirmation. We hear the Father glorifying His Son at various steps of His ministry, starting at His baptism:
And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. Mt. 3:17
We hear the Father validating Jesus again in the middle of His work:
While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him. Mt. 17:5
Jesus spoke the truth to His disciples while He walked with them and they saw the proof of His words while He was with them. Father God was a witness of His Son’s work, speaking out of the cloud; but He was also a witness every time Jesus worked a miracle, healed a body or resurrected someone from the dead. Jesus worked the works His Father sent Him to do.
Jesus saith unto them, My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work. Joh 4:34
At the conclusion of His life, Jesus was approved of the Father and receive the blessings His Father had promised.
I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do. And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was. Joh 17:4-5
Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God. Joh 20:17
And while they looked stedfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel; Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven. Act 1:10-11
Jesus was the Truth and spoke the truth He had heard of His Father and the Father backed up Jesus’ words with visible proof that Jesus was indeed the Son of God and the Savior of the world sent to redeem mankind from his sin.
In the words that Jesus spoke, that were proven to be true, we find that He confirmed the truth of God, walked in the truth and that He has shown us the way to eternal life if we follow Him. Now that we are a witness of that truth, the question then becomes have we obeyed His words and followed His path? We have heard the witness of His disciples:
That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life; (For the life was manifested, and we have seen it, and bear witness, and shew unto you that eternal life, which was with the Father, and was manifested unto us;) That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ. 1Jn 1:1-3
And I saw, and bare record that this is the Son of God. Joh 1:34
These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God. 1Jn 5:13
We can compare our walk with His and answer that question for ourselves. None of us are perfect in our flesh because all have sinned and come short of the glory of God. Our obedience is in accepting the one who was perfect and whose sacrifice was pleasing to God; and then obeying Christ. We are given power by Christ to bring our whole man into obedience to the Spirit. The more familiar we are with His words and His walk, the more we can follow His voice. Without examining His path thoroughly through the Word of God and seeking Him through communion in prayer as He communed with the Father, we will find ourselves ill equipped to obey. The Holy Spirit is given to us so that we can have daily communion with the Father as Jesus did.
Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come. Joh 16:13
Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. Joh 8:31-32
